I went to Jakarta for a business trip in July 2016. I stayed in Pop! Hotel Kemang for a week. I could have stayed in a more expensive and comfortable hotel such as The Grand Kemang. But I chose to stay at Pop! Hotel Kemang. The hotel looked very nice in pictures and the real thing wasn’t much different. I had a good experience there. For that I’ll put in my two cents.
I booked a room at Pop! Hotel Kemang through Traveloka. The price for a night stay there was indeed affordable. Before I booked my hotel room, I had a look on the hotel’s details that are nicely displayed on the Traveloka site. I found most of the details I needed. Overall, I paid RM518.74 only for a whole week of stay in a non-smoking single room.
Getting to Pop! Hotel Kemang
The hotel is located in South Jakarta. Any taxi driver would know where Pop! Hotel Kemang is. That’s because it is a popular choice amongst travellers due to its strategic location.
The hotel is 9.18 km away from the Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport. I made quite a distance as I was travelling from the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to the hotel. Due to the massive traffic jam, I spent over an hour in the taxi.
Tips: Taxis that are queuing outside of the airport are usually cheaper than the ones from the taxi counters. I highly recommend the Blue Bird Taxi Company.

My Experience at Pop! Hotel Kemang
I have to agree on the hotel details that I read on Traveloka. Pop! Hotel Kemang is a wonderful place to stay in regardless of whatever purpose. The hotel staff were friendly, helpful, hardworking and hospitable. Indeed, one can enjoy affordable accommodation with outstanding service at Pop! Hotel Kemang. A night stay there was worth every rupiah I paid for.
Upon check-in, guests are required to pay a 50,000 rupiah deposit that is refundable upon check-out. A receipt will then be issued. You have to keep it until the day you finally check out. Otherwise, you might not get your deposit back.
I got room 905. It was clean and provided me with what I needed. Except a working table. I guess that was the only downside of it.
At night the hotel continued to give its guests all the assistance they needed. Every day and night the hotel will play some of the radio’s trending songs.
The hotel had WiFi in both lobby and hotel rooms. The Internet speed was fair. Neither was it good nor bad. But good enough to watch Youtube, Facebooking or googling for information.
Breakfast was good too. They didn’t have a lot of choices, but the meals provided were good. I usually had tea and cereal. Breakfast was available from 7.00 am to 9.30 am. Every night I sat at one of the tables near the lobby to work on my laptop.
I also thought my hotel room’s bathroom was kind of unique. It looked like a capsule. It wasn’t spacious, but it gave me enough room to do whatever I needed. One of my colleagues told me that she didn’t like the bathroom. She thought it was too claustrophobic for her. The next day, she moved to a different hotel.
Another thing I liked about my stay at Pop! Hotel Kemang was the flexibility that it offered. I can cancel my booking and get a refund just as long as I do it before the 31st of July 2016. I can simply do it using my Traveloka app.
I enjoyed my stay at Pop! Hotel Kemang. In my opinion, it was one of the best budget hotels I had been to. This 2-star hotel deserves 3 stars!
Whenever you travel to Kemang, consider Pop! Hotel Kemang on your accommodation list. Who knows you might like it too!
Another budget hotel around Kemang for you to consider is the Amaris Hotel La Codefin Kemang.
